The saya (scabbard) is constructed of wood, painted black, and finished with a clear coat lacquer. This blade is made of cardon steel and is sharp!!! There is a brass seppa and mekugi (bamboo/wood peg) holding the blade in place, just like all traditional Japanese samurai swords. This is shaped like a straight walking stick. Sutekki in Japanese means Stick.
