| Description |
Ryumon has done it again with an affordable, well constructed tanto! Picture shown here is a Red Saya (Scabbard), however you may choose from a Red or Black Saya. If you do not choose a color, we will send you which ever tanto that is in stock at time of order placement.
This blade is hand forged 10 fold 1024 layers, high carbon 1065 damascus steel and is tempered under traditional Japanese hand sharpening methods. The tsuka (handle) is wrapped with genuine ray skin, is single pegged, and topped with traditional cloth wrapping.
The nakago (sword tang) is in the Futsu style with a Kiri-Juri tip, which just means "a rounded tang tip".
The Kashira (pommel cap) is intricately detailed.
Handle: 5.24 inches
Blade: 10 Inches
Overall Length: 17 Inches

Tanto is very sharp, very solid, and a very nice Shoto peice for the collectors Daisho. Amazing and very cost effective. Love it. |

Surpise! The blade is not polished but the grain is very clear for that (a traditional option to enhance the grain). The tsuba on mine looks like the one on the Paul Chen "Kami" katana and could go for $30-40 itself. It gives it the look of a battle dagger rather than a more modern knife-like tanto. I did not expect a pristine museum piece at this price, but I am very pleased with it. |
