This variant of the standard sugarcane cutting machete is primarily found in East and Southern Africa. Given its role as weapon of choice in uprisings, war atrocities and genocides, we know that the tapanga is capable of mass destruction. It has a blade with a distinct back-swept weighted chisel tip and its also popular in certain parts of Africa. This machete typically has a flat cutting edge for general use, but also has a front-weighted blade for chopping. The blade can be turned over and the spine of the blade sharpened for hacking. This machete is also sometimes called a bolo machete.
Our Tapanga African Style Machete offers a massive and heavy 17.5 inch blade with a distinct back-swept chisel tip. The blade offers a primary grind established at factory but will require further sharpening for fine edge. The blade sports three groove lines helping with the balancing and allowing for an audible feedback when wielding this great machete. This African Style Machete is full tang. Natural wooden slabs has been shaped and riveted onto the handle, allowing for a comfortable non slipping hold. This great machete comes equipped with a green rice sack durable sheath with belt loop ring. The blade comes with a clear coating to prevent from rusting; we recommend you oil the blade after each use. These high quality inexpensive machetes are sold as is.
