This sword is " Tsuwamono ". Tsuwamono is an old Japanese term for a soldier popularized by Matsuo Basho in his famous haiku. Literally meaning a strong person. The katana's shape and structure is made according to the Japanese traditional construction methods. The blade is carbon steel and traditionally honed. This is a functional sharpened katana.

The tskua (handle) is made of imitation Same (Rayskin) and silk ribbon in a Tsumami Maki wrapping style and is 10 3/4 inches. The black painted wooden saya also has 6 sageo knots around the kurikata (knob on scabbard/saya). The overall length is 39 inches. The blade length is 28 1/2 inches to the tskua. The blade has a traditional Shinogi (blade ridge line) and is shaped in the Shinogi Zukuri Style.

      NOTE FROM HANZSOWRDS: Hi, if anyone ever receives a sword broken or cracked due to shipping, please contact us right away so we can rectify the situation. Thanks! __________________________________________REVIEW BY: Lidia When it arrived, it surprised me with the care taken on the shipment, unfurtunatly I took it of the bag and for my surprise the Tsuba was broken in two. The rest of the katana is well made, have a good balance and it is sharpened (not razr sharp, but it will do). The blade is of a good material two. My overall oppinion is that it is good for the price. Just regret for the Tsuba broken, but i''m menaging it with a new one homemade (and more resistent).
